Justin Forest(#4) scored 29 points, including 7 three-pointers, the 105th Precinct led wire-to-wire in a 55-47 victory over the 103rd Precinct in the opening week of the season. As this week's Player of the Week in the PAL Cops & Kids Basketball: Queens South Division, Forest is currently a senior captain for Campus Magnet Educational Campus in Cambria Heights averaging 21.08 points per game this season following his 24.13 points per game average last season.
Although his impact is not directly shown in the box score, this week's Cop of the Week in Queens South is Darnell Gatling (#11). Scoring 8 points, including 2 three-pointers, Gatling was the motivational maestro & proverbial hype man behind Forest & the 105th Precinct's win. Gatling was a walk-on point guard and fan favorite for the Pirates of Seton Hall University (2007-11). He received a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice/Safety Studies from Seton Hall and earned Big East All-Academic Team honors, both in his senior year for the Pirates (2011). Prior to Gatling's tenure in Seton Hall, he played four years at the High School for Law Enforcement and Public Safety in The Bronx. As a three-year starter in high school, Gatling was named to his conference's All-Defensive Team and graduated as his high school's all-time steals leader.
