Citywide Basketball Semifinals -Bronx vs Queens South Player and Cop of the Week

The Bronx [41 PCT] 64: Andres Melendez 23 PTS Queens South [101 PCT] 47: PO Odalis Rodriguez 20 PTS

Player of the Week:

Andres Melendez (#6 black; pictured left) earns "Player of the Week" honors with a game-high 23 points in a victory for The Bronx's 41st Precinct defeating Queens South's 101st Precinct, 64-47. Melendez is a class of 2018 graduate of Mott Haven Educational Campus High School in the West Bronx, NY. In high school, Melendez was a member of the varsity boys' basketball team as a junior and senior and competed on the boys' cross country team as a freshman. His favorite athlete is Kevin Durant and favorite team is the Boston Celtics. In his spare time, Melendez' favorite music artist to listen to is Lil Baby and favorite movie to watch is Friday.

 

Cop of the Week:

Police Officer Gabriel Cruz (pictured right) earns "Cop of the Week" honors. As head coach, PO Cruz orchestrated the 41st Precinct to represent The Bronx in the PAL Cops and Kids Basketball Citywide Tournament Championship finals. Based in the 41st Precinct, which serves the southwest Bronx, PO Cruz has been an NYPD officer for over 5 years and loves to eat rice & beans with chicken as a victory meal.
