Saturday Night Lights

The Police Athletic League’s Sports Department has collaborated with the District Attorney’s Office to create the Saturday Night Lights Program. Saturday Night Lights (SNL) is a violence prevention and youth-development program that offers instructional training for Basketball/ Volleyball and also offer Cardio Non-Contact Kickboxing, Zumba/Dance sessions during times when crime levels are at the highest on Saturday nights for 8 months The program takes place every Saturday for 44 consecutive weeks, during the hours of 4:30-8:30. The start date was September 7th, and we plan to continue growing the enrollment of the program. SNL gives our participants the opportunity to experience a structured practice with organized drills that are conducted by coaches with college basketball and volleyball experience. There is also a segment for cardio-kickboxing for the participants who are interested in enhancing their cardio fitness level. The program is open to all children that are interested. There will be two sessions during the length of the program and is divided by grade level. The first session is held from 4:30-8:30, and will include participants from 4th-8th grade; second session is from 5:30-8:30 for 9th-12th graders. The Basketball and Cardio Non-Contact Kickboxing sessions will be at our Webster Center (located at 2255 Webster Ave, Bronx) and our Polo Grounds Center (located at 3005 8th Ave, Manhattan). There will be Volleyball and Basketball sessions at Armory Center (located 216 Fort Washington, Manhattan).
